It's too easy to keep saying 'he's trying the spectacular, that's why it seems like he's giving the ball away a lot'

That's simply not true, he gave the ball away far too often for a £40mil player yesterday. He does provide moments of class, but for me, 69% passing accuracy yesterday is not good enough.

"I've actually been very complimentary of Rice in the last few games, seems to have worked out he's a holding midfielder "

Do you mean you've just worked it out? Think you're the last man on Earth for the penny to drop

Come on Norf, he wasnt awful.

You get frustrated with him and just see the not so good stuff. He nearly scored a great goal, set up a goal and tracked back a lot.

I hear what you're saying with regards to his intensity, I pointed out yesterday that as a team, we need to show more intensity. Anderson isn't alone in that.aspect.

Anderson was awful yesterday
I find him the most frustrating player he clearly has the ability to be an absolute top player but plays most of the game in 2nd gear if you actually watch him closely he very rarely sprints he’s very lazy and I can see why none of the big boys have ever gone for him, if you compare him to the players at say Liverpool and city their players seem to play every minute as if they are hanging onto a 1-0 lead in the champions league final I’d say they work harder when they are 5-0 up than Anderson does when we are chasing a game

Manuel,

It was aimed at an earlier post saying that he gave the ball away all the time.

64 agreed he does make many mistakes nowadays. Top quality cm should be a priority next summer imo. Also, it would be brilliant to have nobes leading our 2nd unit against weaker teams as he still has a few years of solid football in him

1964,

He gave the ball away more than usual, but he was still knocking it about lovely.

SUM - if you can read you will clearly see that the biggest frustration people have with Anderson is that he gives the ball a way too often, NOT because he doesn't play like Lionel Messi.

Id forgot about Anderson's effort yesterday - that would have been an excellent goal.

As you also point out, Russ, hes set the standard very high, so if he doesn't nutmeg three players then score, people are left with a feeling of disappointment.

I reckon as soon as one goes in for him a few more will follow.

Because we now get to see nearly every game people, i think are inclu

Biggest frustration for me currently is that we dont shoot often enough from in and around the edge of the box. The way the balls fly these days and with possibke deflections thrown in really feel our forwards shoukd have a dig at goal more often. Too often we play it back and across and the other team get bodies back and regroup.

Anybody think Noble had a good game. I thought he was off the pace and lost the ball a few times when given it.

Re: ⚽ Bournemouth v West Ham - Official Match Thread
Anderson always gets some stick as it's obvious what a great player he is and the standards he has set. He had a good game overall yesterday again without setting the world alight. But the hard facts are he made both our goals and had our best other chance saved magnificently. A lot of his link up and play and first touches were also top drawer. If he is doing that whilst not setting the world alight then happy days.

Id add aswell, he's chasing back and winning the ball more, which seems to be to the detriment of him scoring goals - he's still managing to set them up, though.

some of the one touch stuff when lanzini came on was special, just a shame his final ball went astray a couple of times but we played some great football

Anderson doesn't give It away all the time. That's bollocks.

What he does sometimes, which is frustrating, is that he will try something difficult, when a more simple option is on. When it comes off it looks amazing, when it doesn't it's annoying.

Obviously you can’t be a soft touch managing a football club but have always thought Howe and Bournemouth promote this plucky little entertainers image to get away with as much if not more cynicism as anyone.
Like a dive and as we know don’t mind cheating to score.
I imagine there is a thought within the game that Howe is a good little team manager but the guy who paid £19m for Solanke & gave Defoe 3 years at £130k a week maybe would struggle with money to spend.

Other than looking at the VAR penalty claim, he MOTD analysis was solely about our attacking talent. .Not a word about the other team. Isn't that the sort of thing we usually get all worked up about?

I’ve never grasped this media love-in with Bournemouth and Eddie Howe. I’ve heard some stories about Howe from his time at Burnley; these come from a friend who was - and still is - heavily involved at Turf Moor and relate to Howe’s conduct as both a manager and a person outside football. None of the stories do him any favours and he is certainly not the choirboy as which he likes to portray himself.

Interesting that Eddie Howe felt it necessary to lie about his conversation with Pellegrini to avoid being asked about what is obviously a deliberate tactic of using some no-mark assistant to HARANGUE the officials

Really pleased to see that Yarmolenko is showing his ability after he looked way off the pace in the early games.
Still not sure we have the balance right but as Pellegrini says we are trying to play good football which is what people have been asking for for years.
